palestine and food.
(the seemingly reoccuring theme of my life--muslims who feed me...)
...second day in gaza i mention offhandedly to talal how much i love maklouba--two hours later he insists on setting a plate in front of me steaming hot and rich with scent. everything about food in palestine is remarkable!...a place with high malnutrition rates where people still insist on sacrificing their daily food allowances to serve any guest they happen upon a feast...
...i am not the best with words but my fellow delagation member maggie schmitt is... her following two articles (links below) help frame the context of the food we saw, ate and appreciated throughout our travels in gaza.
